Privacy Policy
Effective November 7, 2026
This policy is provided for transparency about how this website handles information. It is not legal advice and should be reviewed by a qualified attorney.
Who we are
ADU Builder Carlsbad is a website that helps homeowners in Carlsbad, California plan accessory dwelling units (ADUs), garage conversions and JADUs and request estimates. Estimate requests are handled by a licensed San Diego County general contractor that performs the design, permitting and construction work.
What we collect
Information you type into the estimate form: ADU type, what the unit is for, approximate size, neighborhood or ZIP code, whether the home is in an HOA, timeline, budget range, name, email address, phone number, and any notes you add. We also record the page you submitted from and the time of submission.
Information collected automatically: like most websites, our web host keeps standard server logs (IP address, browser type, pages requested, date and time) for security and troubleshooting. To limit spam, the form stores a one-way hashed version of your IP address for up to one hour. The cost calculator runs entirely in your browser; what you enter in it is not sent to us unless you submit the estimate form.
This site loads fonts from Google Fonts, which receives your IP address when serving them. We do not use advertising cookies or sell your information.
We use Microsoft Clarity to see how visitors use the site, through heatmaps, scroll depth and anonymized session replays, so we can fix pages that are confusing. Clarity uses cookies and similar technology and collects usage data such as clicks, mouse movement and scrolling. Text typed into form fields is masked and not recorded. Microsoft processes this data under the Microsoft Privacy Statement. You can block it with your browser's cookie or tracking settings without affecting the quote form.
How we use it
- To review your project and contact you about an estimate by phone, text or email
- To schedule a site visit and prepare an estimate
- To keep a record of requests and respond to follow-up questions
- To protect the site against spam and abuse
Who we share it with
Your estimate request is shared with the licensed San Diego County general contractor that handles projects submitted through this site, so they can contact you and prepare an estimate. It is also processed by our service providers (web hosting and email delivery) only as needed to run the site. We do not sell or rent personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.
We may disclose information if required by law or to protect the rights and safety of users or others.
How long we keep it
Estimate requests are kept for up to 24 months from submission, or longer if you become a customer and the records are needed for the project, warranty or legal obligations. Server logs are kept according to our host's standard retention. You can ask us to delete your request sooner.
Your choices and California rights
You can ask us what personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it, by submitting the estimate form with "Privacy request" in the notes or replying to any email you received from us. Depending on applicable law, California residents may have ADUal rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act, including the right to know, delete, correct and opt out of sale or sharing. We don't sell or share personal information as those terms are defined. We will not discriminate against you for exercising your rights.
Security
Requests are stored in a private area of the website accessible only to administrators, and mail settings are kept on the server outside the public web folder. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect your information.
Children
This site is intended for adult homeowners. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18.
